Proudly celebrating its 1st year as a festival, Festival de Sorocaba serves as a cinematic cultural model for emerging filmmakers and screenwriters and supports their career goals by fusing today's cinema pioneers with the richness of cinematic heritage, building and developing the cinematic community.
In our first edition we will honor the great Brazilian filmmaker ANSELMO DUARTE.
Anselmo Duarte Bento was a Brazilian actor, screenwriter and filmmaker. Considered one of the biggest names in Brazilian cinema, he was awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for his film O Pagador de Promessas.
Anselmo was born on April 21, 1920, Salto, São Paulo.
A city close to Sorocaba, home of our festival.

The Festival de Sorocaba is a film festival conceived and created in 2017, after years of being designed it will finally have its first edition in April 2024. The festival is based in the city of Sorocaba, located in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
Sorocaba is a city full of history and culture, full of art and good people, to add to that we created a festival for this beautiful city.
The SFF honors filmmakers and writers from around the world while engaging, connecting and strengthening our community. We are accepting movies and you are more than welcome to apply in all categories. Join us in 2024 for a celebration of film, culture and experience.

4. Subtitles in Portuguese is mandatory, the subtitles must be burned into the video or sent via file (for international films).

5. Submission Fee - All submissions for festival are to be paid through FilmFreeway platform. The submission fee is non-refundable.
6. Film Selection - Entries are reviewed and selected according to the following criteria:
- Narrative quality, production values, boldness, courage and depth of the story.
7. Notification - The festival informs all participants whether the film was successful or not. Successful entries will receive important information about the Festival, press and publicity, contact information and how to make the most of participating in the Festival.
